The driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Kiley Sturm, was Adalynn’s mother. She has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated DUI involving death, DUI alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to wear a seat belt, and failure to restrain a child. Kiley Sturm was allegedly under the influence of alcohol while driving when the crash occurred at the intersection of Hershey Road and Gloucester Circle. According to reports, the vehicle struck a concrete bridge barrier railing.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver, Kiley Sturm, conscious but observed that Adalynn, her 2-year-old daughter, was unresponsive. The officers immediately initiated life-saving measures while awaiting the arrival of paramedics from the Bloomington Fire Department. Both Kiley Sturm and Adalynn were then transported to a nearby hospital, with Adalynn later being transferred to OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
Tragically, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Adalynn Sturm was pronounced deceased at 7:16 p.m. at OSF St. Francis. Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington expressed his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the young victim. He emphasized the unfortunate reminder of the dangers associated with driving under the influence and acknowledged the emotional toll this incident has taken on the first responders involved.
