Christine Jackson Death, Obituary – Christine Sue (Hughes) Jackson, age 70, a resident of Wendell, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Ashley Manor in Jerome following a valiant struggle with Lewey Body Dementia. She was at Ashley Manor in Jerome.
Chris Hughes was born on November 15th, 1952 in Twin Falls to parents who were originally from Buhl and went by the names Preston and Bubbles Hughes. She became a member of the Hughes family alongside her brothers Jim and Bob Hughes. When Chris’s father, Preston, started working for Montana Express in 1963, the family uprooted and moved to Wendell.
Chris received her diploma from Wendell High School in 1971 and then went on to marry her high school sweetheart, James Jackson. They have two sons, Jim Jackson and Alan Jackson, both of whom are named Jackson. In 1975, when I accepted a position with the City of Blackfoot, my family and I made the move there.
After the kids began attending school, Chris found employment at the Morning News and remained there for a number of years. While attending high school, Alan also worked as a photographer at the Morning News, which was his mother’s place of employment.
When we look back on our time in Blackfoot, we have a lot of fond recollections. Chris was a devout follower of God at the Lutheran Church, where my wife and I served as teachers in the Sunday School and Youth Group. The Emanual Lutheran Church in Twin Falls, Idaho, has welcomed us as new members.
We relocated to Rupert in 1998, and Chris found work at the Renaissance Art Center there. He stayed there for 15 years, during which time the Wilson Theater was being renovated. The process of researching the history of the theater while working with Earl Corless and Kris An Hardcastle was both demanding and exhilarating. It was especially thrilling to watch the theater come to life.
We relocated to Wendell when the construction of the theater was finished so that Chris could take care of her aging parents. Chris is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Jackson, of Wendell; their sons, Jim (Kim) Jackson and Alan (Sarah) Jackson and their daughter, Ella Jackson, of Chubbuck; and her brother, Jim Hughes of Wendell.
Her parents, Preston and Bubbles Hughes, as well as her brother, Bob Hughes, passed away before Chris. Chris is the only survivor of her immediate family. A special thank you to Joan Moonen of Jerome and Chris’ lifelong friends Karen Hulm, Kathy Neville, and Linda Flaherty of Montana, as well as the personnel of Ashley Manor of Jerome and Enhabit Health and Hospice, for all of the assistance that was provided.
Donations to the Humane Society are accepted in lieu of flowers that are sent to the funeral home for the family’s celebration of life. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at the graveside on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm, and it will take place in the Wendell Cemetery in Wendell.
Demaray Funeral Service – Wendell Chapel is in charge of making the necessary arrangements for cremation and is responsible for its oversight.
