John Scavone Death, Obituary – John J. Scavone Jr., who had reached the age of 46 at the time of his passing on July 12, 2023, is at this moment at peace and has been laid to rest. On June 24, 1977, in the city of Derby, Connecticut, the world was fortunate enough to witness the arrival of John, the beloved son of Linda Bodak Scavone and the late John J. Scavone Sr. John graduated from Ansonia High School in 1995, where he not only succeeded academically but also excelled on the baseball field, where he was honored with the “Golden Glove” award for his remarkable talent.
This award was given to John because of his exceptional performance on the baseball field. After that, John pursued his undergraduate education in accounting at the University of Connecticut in order to earn his bachelor’s degree from that institution. The field of accounting was where he began his professional career, but over time he switched his focus to hedge fund management and financial operations management.
John poured his heart and everything into raising his two incredible boys, JJ and Bradley, who were both a blessing from God in their own right. He was a proud parent who, for a number of years, coached the baseball teams that both of his kids played on when they were members of the Trumbull program. The guys on his team affectionately referred to him as “Coach John.” In particular, he adored coming to see the University of Connecticut play football and making trips to Citifield to cheer on the New York Mets, which was his all-time favorite team.
Both he and his brother, Brian, who was also his best friend, had a passion for sports in its various forms. It was Brian who was their closest companion. His big family and his plethora of friends will never forget him; they will always remember and respect him for his memories. In addition to his mother Linda, John leaves to cherish his memory, sons, John J. Scavone III and Bradley L. Scavone both of Trumbull; a brother, Brian M. Scavone (Nicole) of Seymour; a sister, Debora Scavone Goldman (Andrew) of Massachusetts; niece and nephew, Liviana, and Colin Scavone, who he was a devoted uncle to; mother of his sons, Jessica Scavone; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
On the morning of Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, visitors of the family are invited to come to the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, which is situated at 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, in order to express their condolences and pay their respects to the individual who has passed away. Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, which can be found at 10 Father Salemi Drive, will be the location of his Mass of Christian Burial, which will begin at 11:00 in the morning on the day of his passing.
After that, the funeral services will take place there. Immediately after the service, interment will take place in the Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in John’s name to the Connecticut chapter of Make-A-Wish at https://wish.org/ct.
