Johnnie L. Flynn Death, Obituary – After a heroic and protracted struggle with cancer, John “Johnnie” L. Flynn passed away on April 28 surrounded by his family and friends. He had fought the disease for a long time. He was 57. Those who were familiar with John were well aware of his extraordinary gift of gab.
Always the comic with his razor-sharp wit and dry sense of humor. He was a huge fan of watching sports in general but was especially devoted to the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots when it came to golf. He really enjoyed the time he got to spend with his cherished dog Buddy.
He received his diploma from Assabet Valley High School in the year 1977. Johnnie started his career working for Consolidated Beverages and went on to build his own company that manufactures granite countertops. His wife and the love of his life, Althea, as well as his daughter Taylor and stepdaughter Jacqueline Alpine, are the only people John leaves behind.
Additionally, he is survived by his mother, Eileen Flynn, who lives in Northborough; his sister, Michelle Desposito, who also lives in Northborough, along with her husband, Frank; and his brother, Michael Flynn, who lives in Shrewsbury with his wife Pam, who was John’s favorite sister-in-law.
In addition, John leaves behind his close friend Fred Blaisdell of Worcester, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. His father, John “Jack” Flynn, passed away before he did. He is known as a predeceased. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff and nurses of St. Vincent’s Cancer Center, who took such excellent care of John during his treatment there.
In addition, a very special thank you goes out to Dr. James O’Shea for the generosity and care he has always shown. On Saturday, May 13, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., the family will be holding a celebration of Johnnie’s life at their home located at 3 Bay View Drive in Shrewsbury. They have extended an invitation to anybody who knew Johnnie to attend.
There are no set times for customers to call. It is an honor for the Hays Funeral Home in Northborough to assist the Flynn family with the arrangements.
