Joseph Leon Raines Obituary, Death – Joseph Leon Raines, age 50, a resident of Roodhouse, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at his residence. Born on December 4, 1972, in Jerseyville, he was the beloved son of Wayne “Woody” and Betty Talley Raines. Joe is survived by his loving daughter, Kelsey Raines, who resides in Jacksonville. He also leaves behind his father, Wayne Raines, of Chatham.
Joe had a close-knit family and is survived by three caring sisters: Rosemary Williams of Roodhouse, Joyce Deskovich (Rodney) of White Hall, and Sue Meyer (Alfred) of Chatham. Additionally, he is survived by a half-sister, Dove Arney, who resides in Cuba, Missouri. Joe was also an adored uncle to seven nephews and five nieces. The passing of his mother preceded Joe in death, leaving a void in the family’s heart. However, they find solace in the memories they shared with him and the love he left behind.
One of Joe’s greatest joys in life was spending time with his nephews. He had a passion for fishing and mushroom hunting and happily shared his skills and knowledge with them. Teaching them the art of fishing was a cherished bonding experience for Joe. His daughter, Kelsey, was the shining light of his life, bringing him immeasurable happiness and pride.
Known for his selflessness and kindness, Joe had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He possessed an unwavering faith in God, which guided him throughout his life. Joe’s strong belief was a source of comfort and strength for him and those around him.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, private services for Joe will be held at a later date.
