Matt Goodman Obituary, Death – Firefighter Matt Goodman, who was off duty when he passed away early on Saturday morning, was remembered with deep sorrow by the Kannapolis Fire Department, which made the announcement of his loss with tremendous regret. Ladder 34, which is located at Station 3 in the Royal Oaks neighborhood of Kannapolis, was the team that Matt was assigned to. In addition to that, he was involved with a number of other volunteer fire departments in Iredell County.
During this time of loss and mourning for Matt, we ask that you remember his family, friends, and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers. We also ask that you remember the many years of devoted service Matt provided to our City and the communities that surrounded it. Tracy Winecoff, Chief of Fire Operations for the City of Kannapolis
You were a brother who was larger than life. The first day that we met at GSD, when we were roommates and companions for the first few days, is a day that I will never forget.
This one really stings. I am grateful that you pushed me. I am grateful to have you as my brother. I am grateful to have you as a friend. Our bond will last throughout the years. The other day, as we were wrapping off our conversation, the last thing you said to me was, “Anything for you man.” Big dude, we are going to take it from here. Brother, may you finally rest in peace. I am keeping your family, friends, and brothers in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
