Neil Blanca Death, Obituary – We would like to offer our sincerest sympathies to you and your family on the loss of Coach Neil Blanca, who died away in an unexpected and very untimely manner. In 2002, Coach Neil and his family laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the Manitoba Magic Club. He set a standard for others to follow and encouraged others within the Manitoba basketball community to develop their own unique club identities while simultaneously working to foster an atmosphere of healthy competition.
A highlight for Coach Neil, who was among the first to lead Magic teams to contests conducted in locations other than their home province, was the opportunity to play on hardwood that had never been used before. Those who were under his tutelage will never forget the thrilling experiences they had on the road and the valuable lessons they picked up along the way because of him. Those of you who were not familiar with him and, more importantly, those of you who do remember coach Neil should look at this photo because it depicts him in a manner that is absolutely accurate.
His unorthodox methods, his intensity and demeanor, his “dry and strange” sense of humor, and most of all his unrelenting, unforgettable, and “push you to your limits” training styles on and off the court will forever go down in the annals of our club’s history as one of the greatest coaches to ever volunteer his time and passion to the game!! People will always feel love and adoration for Coach Neil, and this feeling will never go away.
During this trying time, we want the Blanca family to know that we are thinking about them and sending our deepest condolences.
