Robert Fields Suicide, Death – After a protracted battle with sickness, Robert “Yankee” Fields, 71, a resident of Palatka, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. Although he was born in Red Bank, New Jersey, he moved to Spencer, New York, in 1960 and has been a resident of Putnam County ever since. “Yankee” worked for Georgia Pacific for 43 years before taking his retirement. He was a supervisor there. He was a follower of the Baptist religion and his hobbies were fishing, woodworking, and watching classic Westerns.

His parents, George A. Fields and Gertrude Swartz Fields, as well as his brothers George A. Fields and Freddie Fields, and his sister Mary Fields, all passed away before him. His family includes his wife of 53 years, Florence Fields, three sons, Richard Fields and wife RaeNell, Edward Dean Fields, and Wade Fields and wife Paula, a daughter, Kathy Fields, two brothers, Charles Fields and Richard Fields and wife Sheila, two sisters, Sally Manchester and Linda Pollini, nine grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Fields, Casey (Skyla) Fields, Robbie (Alex)

Fields, Josh Fields, Katie ( “Yankee” is also survived by Dakota, the dog that he cherished very much.
On Saturday, December 20, 2014, the funeral service will be held at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka at ten o’clock in the morning, with Pastor Buddy Lynch presiding. The final resting place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka after the funeral. At the funeral home on Friday, the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 o’clock in the evening.
