Robert Quimby Obituary, Death – The passing of Robert Douglas “Doug” Quimby took place on Thursday, July 6, 2023, when he was 64 years old. His passing came as a complete surprise. He considers the community of Hockessin in Delaware to be his permanent residence. Both of his parents, William Quimby and Janet (Gebhart) Quimby, had passed away before to his birth on March 7, 1959 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was the son of William Quimby and Janet (Gebhart) Quimby. Doug began his career working for NVF, and he later worked for more than 30 years at Sartomer as a water treatment technician.
Doug is currently retired from Sartomer. During his retirement years, he did, however, keep a part-time job at Hockessin Hardware, where the patrons affectionately referred to him as the “candy man.” This was by far his favorite part of the work. Doug was the kind of person who could reliably put a smile on the face of everybody he interacted with. Because helping other people provided him happiness, he would gladly offer his support to them even if they hadn’t specifically asked for it. Doug was a devoted follower of Christ and was a regular at the St. John/Holy Angels R.C. Parish, where he went to worship services.
He was a fanatical fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed going for walks and was very diligent about keeping his pool and yard in good condition. Spending time with his loved ones was Doug’s biggest joy and passion in life, and he always looked forward to having friends and relations over for dinner. Doug’s family was his greatest joy and love in life. Doug is at last reunited not only with his parents, but also with Holly, the cherished dog who has been by his side throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen A. Quimby; his children, Escuss Street, IV, Ashley Quimby, Brittany Quimby, and Nicole Roberts and son-in-law, Jon; his grandson, Escuss Street, V; and several more members of his extended family as well as friends. He will be much missed by all of these people.
Holy Angels R.C. Church, which can be found in Newark, Delaware at 82 Possum Park Road, will be the location where family and friends will be able to pay their respects on Thursday, July 20, 2023, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Immediately after the visitation, at eleven in the morning, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial. The private interment service will take place at All Saints Cemetery in the city of New Orleans.
