Shayne Priefert Obituary, Death – On Friday, July 7, 2023, Shayne Self Priefert, who was 71 years old at the time of her death, passed away and went to be with her adoring father. On January 19, 1952, in the town of Pittsburg, Texas, Shayne was born to his parents, Buck and Beatrice Johnson Self. She went to Cookville School for a while before moving to Mount Pleasant High School and graduating there in 1970. She spent her childhood in Cookville on the farm that her family owned.
Shayne is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill Priefert, and their three sons and wives, Eddie and Randa Priefert, Nathan and Bailey Priefert, and Travis and Amanda Priefert all of Mount Pleasant. Shayne was known as a doting “Granna” to her seven grandsons, Ethan, Landon, Collin, Ayden, Bowdrie, Tucker, and Boone Priefert, as well as her four granddaughters, Montgomery, McCoy, McCall, and Preslee Priefert. She also had a great relationship with all of her other grandchildren.
In addition, Shayne is survived by her sister, Amber Newman, who resides in Boerne; her sister and brother-in-law, Mandy Smith and Danny Smith, who are in Cookville; Shayne’s sister-in-law, Vicki Jeter, who resides in Mount Pleasant; her brother-in-law, David Bynum, who also resides in Mount Pleasant; and a large number of nephews and nieces. Shayne’s parents, brother and sister-in-law Tift and Ella Self, brother-in-law J.W. Newman, father and mother-in-law Marvin and Johnni Priefert, sister-in-law Micki Bynum, and brother-in-law James Jeter all passed away before she did. Shayne is survived by her husband, son, and daughter.
Shayne was an educator at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cookville, where she served as a member for many years and oversaw a children’s Sunday school class. She will be remembered by all the lives she has touched as an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. The Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant will be open for visitation on Sunday evening from six until eight o’clock. The funeral will be place at the South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant on Monday, July 10, at 10 a.m. The funeral and burial will take place at the Priefert family cemetery, which is located on the Priefert Ranch. Her grandsons will serve as the pallbearers during her funeral.
