Vince Lobley Obityary, Death – After learning the tragic news that our former volunteer Vince Lobley had passed away, we are now in a position to confirm that his funeral will take place at the Scunthorpe Crematorium on Tuesday, July 25 at 10:40 in the morning. We are sorry for your loss. A moment of silence will be observed before the start of his service. The news that we have to transmit to you today is even more upsetting than the news that we had to relay to you the day before.
Vince Lobley, a former volunteer with the SHR who was awarded the BEM for his service, has passed away. Bev, his daughter, has made it abundantly clear that her father, Vince, went away in a very quick and unexpected manner while he was sleeping on Friday evening. He was completely unfazed by the situation. He was well known all around the city of Scunthorpe due to the voluntary work he did for a variety of organizations, and this contributed to his notoriety. At Scunthorpe Hospital Radio, one of the organizations that he volunteered for, he hosted a number of various programmes, the most well-known of which was our Sunday country music request show.
He also broadcast a number of other shows. People used to go out of their way to tune in whenever Vince was on the radio because of his unequaled expertise in the field of country music and his passion for the genre. In addition, Vince was known to be a huge fan of country music. In recognition of the significant contributions he made throughout his time as a volunteer with the Humberside Police, he was presented with the British Empire Medal in 2014, when he was 80 years old.
This was done as recognition of the fact that he has previously performed these duties for the community.
In this trying time, Bev, along with the rest of Vince’s family and friends, will be kept in our thoughts and prayers, as will the rest of Vince’s family. People who were staying in the hospital and listening to the radio when you were here found a great deal of comfort in hearing your voice on the radio while you were here, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you, Vince, for that.
